BELGRADE， Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- One person died and two were seriously injured in an incident when two groups of migrants conflicted in Belgrade's central zone on Monday afternoon， the Serbian Interior Ministry has confirmed.


A press release of the Serbian ministry explained that the fights took place on two separate occasions in the afternoon at Belgrade's Kamenicka street near the railway station and the park when numerous migrants use as illegal camp sites.


"Today in Kamenicka Street in Belgrade there has been a fight of migrants with use of knives. One person has died due to inflicted injuries while another one was injured and transported to the emergency center，" the press release read.

The press release stated that five migrants have been arrested so far for their participation in the fight， and knives were found among their possessions.


"The police works intensively on this case，" the release concluded， while local media reported that the deceased person has been identified as a citizen of Afghanistan.


The Interior Ministry did not reveal reasons behind the fighting.
